Numeris Best Practices

As part of the agreement between Numeris and Mediaocean Canada, Mediaocean is required to comply with the Numeris Best Practices per Appendix 3 of its contract. The following sections outline the specifics of Mediaocean’s activities that verify compliance regarding Meter Service.

Providing access to relevant disclosures

Numeris posts all relevant disclosures to its members in the Member Communique & Information of Interest directories and the associated Methodology and Reports sub-directories. Providing reasonable controls to prevent raw data from being altered

This section of Appendix 3 is not applicable to Mediaocean because its clients do not have access to raw data. Per Numeris Canada, raw data only applies to respondent-based systems.

Providing reasonable controls to prevent report headings selected being misleading

Mediaocean reporting includes both pre-formatted and customizable options. When requesting look-up data, clients must specify the source, period, and desired demographic category to be reported. For example, they must input EWM1849 to report on WM1849 GRP values. The demographic details can be verified by at any time during the report request process by referring to the agency’s file setup records.

Providing alerts when data is re-issued

When Numeris data is re-issued, Mediaocean notifies its clients through Service Notices that are emailed directly to agency staff that have been identified to us as dealing with broadcast demographics.

Disclose timeliness and collection method of demographic variables

On its secure website, Numeris posts its Description of Methodology, which includes information on timeliness and collection method of demographic variables. This includes the following documents: PPM Methodology_October 2011, PPM Operations Description of Methodology December 2011, and TV Diary Methodology September 2009. Relevant standard error estimates

On its secure website, Numeris posts its Design Effect Factor (DEFF) tables, which include standard errors for relevant demographics and estimates including custom or user-defined reporting variables. Minimum reporting standards

Mediaocean Canada reports summary data only, therefore Numeris’s requirements for minimum reporting standards is not applicable.
