Mediaocean Appoints CTO, Role to Make Global Marketing Technology Vision a Reality
Former Operative, Oracle executive brings twenty years’ experience in building open media platforms, enterprise applications and global business intelligence systems
New York City, July 26, 2012 — Mediaocean has appointed its new Chief Technology Officer, Vedant Sampath, tasked with building Mediaocean’s universal platform for the marketing industry.
Vedant was selected for his specific expertise relevant to executing on Mediaocean’s vision of an open, cross-channel platform to power the global marketing ecosystem. He brings to the role over 20 years’ experience in building open media platforms and managing high-level technology integrations—including M&A integrations—across media, enterprise, and global business intelligence technologies.
- Most recently, Vedant served as Chief Technology Officer at Operative, responsible for building the company’s central technology: an open platform through which media publishers manage their end-to-end sales and ad operations business.
- Prior to Operative, Vedant was VP of Software Development at Oracle. There, he led development for the Financial Consolidation and Reporting product line, used by major enterprises internationally—including major advertising holding companies—for worldwide financial reporting.
- As VP of Product Management at Hyperion Solutions (which Oracle acquired in 2007) he managed Hyperion’s product management team, helping integrate the company’s Business Intelligence, Analytics and Financial Applications into the leading Business Performance Management suite.
- Vedant has been instrumental in successfully integrating acquired technology companies, including in Hyperion’s $142M acquisition of Brio Technology in 2003, and Operative’s acquisition of Solbright in 2010. In addition to the value this experience brings to future Mediaocean acquisitions, this was deemed a critical credential for executing on Mediaocean’s vision of a platform centered around third-party integration, open API’s, and seamless sharing of data across all media channels.
John Bauschard, President of Platforms at Mediaocean, said: “In our search for the executive who would create our next-generation marketing platform, we were seeking a leader who possessed a truly uncommon set of talents across multiple areas of expertise. With Vedant’s proven skills in creating and integrating systems for open media platforms, enterprise SaaS applications, and best-in-class business intelligence technology, we’ve found the right person to lead the charge.”
Added Vedant: “Mediaocean’s combination of revolutionary vision, powerful building blocks already in place, and position at the heart of the media ecosystem makes its marketing system of the future a goal that’s both within reach, and poised to become the most powerful business technologies to come around in a long time. It’s a truly great honor to have been tapped to make that technology a reality.”
